Christmas Cookies...

I have had such a great time making Christmas cookies this year! We're kind of slow, as are many bakeries apparently, so it's a good time to play and make gifts for the family.

Wedding Cake Photography

I was lucky enough to have some professional photographs of my cakes taken by Pete at Coe Photography. His work is absolutely amazing and I can't thank him enough! Here are a few samples....

Article in the Madison Press

Kevin Dye, a reporter from the Madison Press, was kind enough to come to my home and spend over an hour chatting with me about cakes. He did an amazing job on the article, and I truly thank him for taking the time to do this!

Deb and Paul's Wedding Cake

Deb and Paul were a fun couple to work with. The cake seemed to be very important to them both, so I hope I did it justice!

Guitar Cake

This is by far the largest cake I've done so far. It measured 3-1/2 feet from bottom to top. Because it was ordered on short notice, the neck was made from foam core, but everything else is totally edible. This was a challenge, which I definitely enjoyed! I hope Mike liked his cake as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Our first official advertisement...

We finally decided that some advertising was in order. Our very first magazine ad appears in the newest issue of Columbus Bride. Thanks again to Liz, a great customer of mine who designed the ad for me. I would've been lost without her!

Gracie's Wedding Cake

I had sooo much fun working on this cake! Gracie and her mother, Mary, were a dream to work with. The green in this cake is so beautiful. I'm hoping the photographer got a better picture of it than I did! The hydrangeas are silk flowers but the rest are made from sugar. The groom's cake was alot of fun too. Everything on it is totally edible. My daughter, Chelsey, freehand drew those playing cards on the top!!!!! She did SUCH an amazing job!!!!

Website Suggestions Anyone?

I'm going to spend the next week or so going over my website, trying to update information and make it as user friendly as possible. If anyone would like to offer any suggestions, any information you feel is lacking that you would like to see added, anyway to make it easier to navigate....I'd love to hear your suggestions. Feel free to email me at brenscakes@yahoo.com.

Thanks!

Aaron and Matt's Commitment Ceremony Cake

Aaron was really great to work with. He came to our consultation with his invitation, and we matched the piping to it almost exactly. The flowers on top are made out of chocolate. It ended up being a really cool design!

Chelsey's Senior Pictures

We went last week to have my daughter's senior pictures taken. I'm so lucky that I have such talented customers! Lori, of Studio Williams (see link on side), did such an amazing job with these! She totally captured my daughter's sweet spirit. We can't wait to see the rest of the pictures. Thank you so much, Lori! You are one talented lady!!!

Choo-Choo, All Aboard!

My favorite cake from this week! Another of my favorite customers, Missy, ordered this one for Luke's 4th birthday. They're having engineer hats and bandanas as party favors, so this should fit right in.

Dionne and Roy's Wedding Cake

I really loved how this cake turned out. It's definitely different than most of my wedding cakes, but that's what keeps me on my toes! Dionne and Roy were a pleasure to work with, as was the florist, Jody, who was kind enough to coordinate her delivery time with mine so we could deal with the cake's fresh flowers together. And I love how the crystals add a little of the "bling" factor!

Dog Cupcakes

My daughter is a senior this year and attends a vet tech program. The class was kind enough to spend their day grooming all THREE of our dogs, who, quite frankly, hadn't seen a brush in awhile. (Lazy pet owner!) I made these as a thank you for the amazing job they did! The dogs are modeled out of chocolate clay. I made the cupcake wrappers out of scrapbook paper, then I did their names with the new funky letter tappits. I had alot of fun with these, and the recipients were very, very deserving!

Tracy's 40th Birthday

Liz is one of my favorite customers. She always comes up with a really cool design, and it's always something I haven't tried before. Liz was also amazing enough to design my very first ad that will be coming out in Columbus Bride at the end of this month!

Wecome to my Blog

This is my first blogging attempt, so I'm sure I'll have alot to learn. I'm hoping I'll be able to get cake pictures uploaded faster this way than I do when I update my site. We'll see. :)
